Identification in multivariate partial observability probit
نویسنده
چکیده
Poirier (1980, JoE) considered a bivariate probit model in which the binary dependent variables y 1 and y 2 were not observed individually, but the product z = y 1 @y 2 was observed. This paper expands this notion of partial observability to multivariate settings.

Quantitative Leverage Through Qualitative Knowledge: Augmenting the Statistical Analysis of Complex Causes
Social scientific theories frequently posit that multiple causal mechanisms may produce the same outcome. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to observe which mechanism was responsible. For example, IMF scholars conjecture that nations enter IMF agreements both out of economic need and for discretionary domestic political reasons. Typically, though, all we observe is the fact of agreement,...
متن کاملPartial Observation in Distributed Supervisory Control of Discrete-Event Systems
Distributed supervisory control is a method to synthesize local controllers in discrete-eventsystems with a systematic observation of the plant. Some works were reported on extending this methodby which local controllers are constructed so that observation properties are preserved from monolithic todistributed supervisory control, in an up-down approach. In this paper, we find circumstances in ...
متن کاملModelling of Correlated Ordinal Responses, by Using Multivariate Skew Probit with Different Types of Variance Covariance Structures
In this paper, a multivariate fundamental skew probit (MFSP) model is used to model correlated ordinal responses which are constructed from the multivariate fundamental skew normal (MFSN) distribution originate to the greater flexibility of MFSN. To achieve an appropriate VC structure for reaching reliable statistical inferences, many types of variance covariance (VC) structures are considered ...
متن کاملParameterization of multivariate random effects models for categorical data.
Alternative parameterizations and problems of identification and estimation of multivariate random effects models for categorical responses are investigated. The issues are illustrated in the context of the multivariate binomial logit-normal (BLN) model introduced by Coull and Agresti (2000, Biometrics 56, 73-80). We demonstrate that the BLN model is poorly identified unless proper restrictions...
متن کاملFactors Affecting Groundnut Market Outlet Choice in Moisture Stress Area of Babile District, Eastern Ethiopia: Multivariate Probit Approach
The groundnut plant has the ability to survive in areas of low rainfall because it is a legume and it increases soil fertility by fixing nitrogen in the soil. The study area is known by erratic and uneven rainfall while groundnut is the main cash crop in the area. The study identified the groundnut market outlets, factor affecting groundnut market outlet choice and identifies farm level women r...
